Product Description

Product Overview

The 1T G80 Lifting Rigging Chain Sling is a multi-leg chain sling designed for industrial lifting, crane operations and material handling. Manufactured with Grade 80 (G80) alloy steel chain, the sling can be configured as a two-leg, three-leg or four-leg assembly according to the lifting application.

Available chain diameters include 6mm, 7mm, 8mm, 10mm and 13mm, subject to the required configuration and rated capacity.

A complete chain sling normally consists of G80 lifting chain combined with suitable master links, connecting links, hooks and other rigging components. The final Working Load Limit (WLL) depends not only on chain diameter but also on the number of legs, sling angle, hook configuration and the capacity of every component in the assembly.

For B2B procurement, buyers should specify the required chain diameter, number of legs, WLL, overall length, hook type, master link, certification and applicable lifting standard.

Important: A “1T” requirement should not be assumed to apply to every 6/7/8/10/13mm configuration. Actual WLL must be confirmed from the manufacturer's rated specification and the applicable standard.

Key Features of G80 Chain Sling

1. Grade 80 Alloy Steel Chain

The lifting chain is manufactured from G80 alloy steel, a commonly used grade for lifting chain assemblies.

The chain is designed for lifting applications when manufactured, tested and marked according to the applicable requirements.

2. Two, Three and Four Leg Configurations

The chain sling can be configured according to the required load connection.

Configuration Typical Application
2 Leg Chain Sling General machinery and cargo lifting
3 Leg Chain Sling Loads requiring additional connection points
4 Leg Chain Sling Large or multi-point loads
Customized Special lifting arrangements

The rated capacity varies according to sling angle and complete assembly configuration.

3. Multiple Chain Diameters

The product can be supplied with 6mm, 7mm, 8mm, 10mm and 13mm G80 chain, subject to the required design.

This provides flexibility for buyers who need different chain specifications for different lifting systems.

4. Heavy-Duty Forged Components

The chain sling can be assembled with forged G80 lifting components such as:

  • Master links
  • Clevis sling hooks
  • Self-locking hooks
  • Connecting links
  • Grab hooks
  • Eye hooks
  • Shortening hooks

The selected components should have compatible WLL and chain dimensions.

5. Adjustable Sling Length

Chain sling assemblies can be supplied to a specified overall length.

Compared with fixed-length textile slings, chain assemblies can also be designed with suitable shortening components where adjustment is required.

Crane Lifting

G80 multi-leg chain slings can be used with overhead cranes, mobile cranes and other compatible lifting equipment.

Machinery Handling

The chain sling is suitable for lifting and positioning machinery, equipment and industrial components when the lifting points are properly evaluated.

Steel and Metal Handling

The robust chain construction makes G80 chain slings suitable for handling steel structures, fabricated components and other heavy industrial loads.

Construction

Applications may include structural component handling, equipment installation and construction material lifting.

Industrial Maintenance

Multi-leg chain slings can be used for maintenance and plant material-handling operations where a rated chain sling is required.

Chain Sling Configuration

Two-Leg Chain Sling

A 2-leg chain sling is a common configuration for loads with two suitable lifting points.

The two legs should be connected to properly positioned lifting points to maintain load balance.

Three-Leg Chain Sling

A 3-leg configuration can be used where three lifting points are available.

However, the actual load distribution among three legs should not automatically be assumed to be equal. The lifting plan should account for load geometry and sling angles.

Four-Leg Chain Sling

A 4-leg chain sling is commonly considered for large or multi-point loads.

Importantly, four physical legs do not necessarily mean that all four legs share the load equally. The rated capacity must follow the applicable standard and manufacturer's specification.

Manufacturing Process

Step 1: Alloy Steel Material Inspection

The raw material is checked according to the required chemical and mechanical specifications.

Step 2: Chain Manufacturing

G80 alloy steel is formed into chain links and processed according to the specified chain size and grade.

Step 3: Heat Treatment

Controlled heat treatment is applied to achieve the required mechanical properties for the specified G80 chain.

Step 4: Component Forging

Hooks, master links, connecting links and other components are manufactured through suitable forging and machining processes.

Step 5: Chain Sling Assembly

The required number of chain legs are assembled with the specified master link and hooks.

Step 6: Length Adjustment

The overall sling length is checked and adjusted according to the customer's drawing or order specification.

Step 7: Testing

Applicable proof load, dimensional or other required tests can be conducted according to the relevant standard and customer requirements.

Step 8: Marking and Inspection

Finished assemblies are inspected and marked with relevant product identification, WLL and traceability information as applicable.

How to Select a G80 Chain Sling

1. Confirm the Load Weight

Determine the maximum weight to be lifted.

The selected chain sling must have an appropriate WLL for the actual lifting configuration.

2. Select the Number of Legs

Choose between:

  • 2-leg
  • 3-leg
  • 4-leg

based on the available lifting points and load geometry.

3. Confirm Chain Diameter

Select the appropriate chain diameter according to the required WLL and applicable standard.

Available options for this product include:

6mm / 7mm / 8mm / 10mm / 13mm

4. Consider Sling Angle

For multi-leg chain slings, the angle between the chain legs has a significant effect on leg loading.

As the included sling angle increases, the tension in individual legs can increase. Therefore, WLL should always be checked for the actual configuration.

5. Select the Correct Hook

Different applications may require:

  • Clevis sling hooks
  • Eye hooks
  • Self-locking hooks
  • Grab hooks
  • Shortening hooks

The hook must have a compatible WLL and chain size.

G80 Chain Sling vs. Webbing Sling vs. Wire Rope Sling

Feature G80 Chain Sling Polyester Webbing Sling Wire Rope Sling
Material Alloy Steel Polyester Steel Wire Rope
Flexibility Medium High Medium
Abrasion Resistance High Requires protection High
Sharp Edge Resistance Relatively high Requires edge protection Relatively high
Weight Heavy Lightweight Medium
Length Adjustment Possible with chain components Limited Limited
Typical Application Heavy industrial lifting General cargo lifting Heavy industrial lifting

The appropriate lifting sling should be selected according to the load, environment, lifting method and required WLL.

Safety Considerations

G80 chain slings are lifting equipment and must be used according to the applicable lifting standard and manufacturer's instructions.

  • Never exceed the marked WLL.
  • Inspect chains before use.
  • Check for cracks, deformation and excessive wear.
  • Do not use damaged hooks or master links.
  • Check that safety latches operate correctly.
  • Do not use a chain sling with unknown capacity.
  • Avoid shock loading.
  • Do not knot or twist lifting chains.
  • Avoid side loading of hooks unless specifically permitted.
  • Ensure the load is properly balanced.
  • Consider the actual sling angle when calculating capacity.
  • Do not stand under a suspended load.
  • Remove damaged components from service.
